Woodland Steward Program

What will I learn?

There are a total of 10 modules in the program, which cover a variety of topics, including identification of property boundaries, rules and regulations involving land management, forest ecology, wildlife habitat, invasive species, components of a successful timber harvest, finances and more.  For a full outline of modules and descriptions, please click here or to explore a sneak peek, click here.

How much does it cost?

The program is being offered at a rate of only $20.  This fee covers the cost of the online curriculum, and it includes one free registration to a Community Field Day and luncheon, where concepts in the modules will be reinforced on the ground and in person.

How do I sign up?

To register for the course, simply decide which payment option is best for you.  Participants can pay online via PayPal or the old-fashioned way via check. Once payment is received and approved, a unique URL will be sent to each user in order to access the program modules.  It is as simple as that!

Once I pay, when can I start the program?

If you pay online, approval is provided within just a few minutes.  If you pay by check, approval may take up to 3 to 5 business days.  Once you are approved, a link with your unique URL for the program modules will be emailed to you.

I enjoyed the modules and now feel ready to connect with a professional.  How do I find a licensed forester in Maine?

For a list of licensed professionals in Maine, please visit: www.maine.gov/doc/mfs/fpm/lpf.htm.  Also feel free to ask friends and neighbors for suggestions or recommendations.  Choosing a forester that you feel is a good fit for your land and your goals is an important decision, and you should feel comfortable taking your time in choosing the one that is right for you.
